The Andy Early Award

A special award is presented each year in memory of Andy Early, a former player who was killed in a car accident at the age of 10 in 1994.  Some coaches at that time wanted to honor Andy’s memory by publicly recognizing one of our players by having coaches nominate a player who exemplifies the spirit of a “gamer.”

A “gamer” is defined as someone with a true love of the game-a player who will do what it takes to serve the team to the best of their ability in whatever position they are called upon to play.

This is a player who attends practices and games, works hard, listens to the coaches, and is willing to learn.  They hustle at every opportunity and maintain the attitude of a true sportsman.  They are respectful of the umpires, the fans, the opposing team and their coaches.  And most importantly demonstrate encouragement and support of their teammates as well.
